Welcome to Cleveland, TN!
The gateway to the Ocoee Region and county seat of Bradley County, Cleveland is located in the southeast corner of Tennessee and is only 28 mi (45 km) northeast of Chattanooga and 82 mi (132 km) southwest of Knoxville. The city welcomes thousands of tourists each year, with its scenic beauty and numerous recreational pursuits within the area. Only a short distance from the Smoky Mountains and the Cherokee National Forest, Cleveland offers tourists easy access to both spectacular mountain climbing and hiking. The Ocoee River, found 20 mi (32 km) east of Cleveland, features Class III and IV rapids, making it a popular and challenging whitewater adventure destination. In the city, visitors can explore the unique shops and restaurants of downtown. Cleveland is often referred to as "the buckle of the bible belt,” with many religious organizations and several historic churches found here. The Church of God has its international headquarters here and operates Lee University, a private Christian liberal arts institution. Several festivals and events are held annually, including the Cherokee Days of Recognition at Red Clay State Park, once the council grounds for the Cherokee Nations.
