Stretching along the North Carolina border in Eastern Tennessee, the Cherokee National Forest encompasses an area of 640,000 acres (258,999 ha) in the Southern Appalachian mountain range. The forest provides habitat to several different species and offers a multitude of outdoor recreational opportunities, including camping, fishing, hunting, hiking, and more.
Red Clay State Park encompasses 263 acres of land and is located in the southwest corner of Bradley County. The area served as the council grounds of the Cherokee Nation. Today, visitors can enjoy the trails found here as well as the natural landmark, Blue Hole Spring. The park features a picnic pavilion with restrooms, a water fountain and grill.
