Kingsport Travel Guide
Welcome to Kingsport, TN!
Located in Sullivan County in northeast Tennessee, Kingsport borders the state of Virginia. This city, along with Bristol and Johnson City, forms a metro area known as the Tri Cities. Kingsport was named after a major shipping port, known as King's Port, located on the Holston River. Early pioneers and frontiersmen settled and worked in the area, including Davy Crockett and Daniel Boone, and today, tourists can visit Kingsport's museums and historic sites, which are dedicated to preserving and telling the story of America's First Frontier. Kingsport is also home to many landmarks that are listed on the National Registry of Places, including the Netherland Inn. With its year-round mild temperature and rich history and heritage, Kingsport is an exciting place to visit. The city offers multiple recreational activities within Bays Mountain Park and Warriors' Path State Park, which both provide excellent camping, fishing and hiking opportunities. In addition, the renowned Daniel Boone Trail crosses through the city. A visit to Kingsport should include a trip to downtown, where visitors can experience true Southern hospitality in the plentiful shops and restaurants. One of the area's most popular events is Fun Fest. Held in July, this week-long event boasts a deluge of food and activities.
