    Great Smoky Mountains National Park

    A large haze hangs above the mountains, which resulted in the naming of the park. The national park is almost evenly divided in the states of Tennessee and North Carolina. Some of the largest mountain peaks are located in the park. Over 100 native species of trees can be seen.

    Red Clay State Park
    Red Clay State Park encompasses 263 acres of land and is located in the southwest corner of Bradley County. The area served as the council grounds of the Cherokee Nation. Today, visitors can enjoy the trails found here as well as the natural landmark, Blue Hole Spring. The park features a picnic pavilion with restrooms, a water fountain and grill.

    Ijams Nature Center

    The large 80-acre park features woods, trails, meadows, pond and perennial gardens. There are over 40 species located at the center. The park over looks Fort Loudoun Lake. Featured in the park is a large 12,800 square foot nature center, which offers many educational programs.

    Bays Mountain Park

    Open year-round, Bays Mountain Park offers a number of recreational opportunities. This 3500 acre (1416 ha) nature preserve features a 44 acre (17.8) lake, a planetarium theater, farmstead museum, and nature center.

    Ruby Falls

    Travel 1,220 ft (372 m) underground and view a 145 ft (44 m) tall waterfall. Descend below the ground by an elevator. Found in the caves are stalactites, stalagmites, columns, drapes and flowstone. A panoramic view of Chattanooga can be seen from the Lookout Mountain Tower.
